Do you actually know your English level?
Most students say "intermediate" — but what does that really mean? The CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) divides English into six precise levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. Each level represents a very specific ability in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Pre-Intermediate

B1
Intermediate
I have a cat called Luna, who has been part of my family for three years. She is small and white, with a calm but playful personality. Whenever I feel stressed, her presence helps me relax.
B2
Upper-Intermediate
Luna, my three-year-old cat, has become far more than a pet — she is a genuine companion. Despite her small size, her personality is remarkably expressive. On difficult days, her quiet presence is surprisingly comforting.
C1
Advanced
Luna has occupied a central place in my daily life, and her influence extends well beyond the role traditionally assigned to pets. Caring for her has instilled in me a sense of responsibility I am only beginning to appreciate.
C2
Proficiency
To describe Luna merely as a pet would be to do a disservice to a relationship whose texture is considerably more nuanced — one that has quietly recalibrated my understanding of companionship itself.

What makes each level different?
It's not just vocabulary — it's the entire way ideas are constructed and connected. Here's a breakdown of each level:

الأمر لا يتعلق فقط بالمفردات — بل بطريقة بناء الأفكار وربطها ببعض. إليك شرح لكل مستوى:
A1
مبتدئ
Beginner
جمل قصيرة جداً. مفردات أساسية. لا يوجد ربط بين الجمل. كل جملة فكرة منفصلة.
Very short sentences, basic vocab, no connectors. Each sentence stands alone.
A2
ما قبل المتوسط
Pre-Intermediate
يبدأ الطالب بربط الجمل بـ "and / but / before". المفردات محدودة لكن واضحة.
Simple connectors appear (and, but, before). Limited but clear vocabulary.
B1
متوسط
Intermediate
جمل موصولة (who / which). تعبير عن المشاعر والسبب. تدفق أفضل بين الجمل.
Relative clauses, expressing feelings and reasons, better sentence flow.
B2
فوق المتوسط
Upper-Intermediate
مفردات دقيقة. تراكيب معقدة. استخدام "despite / although / whereas" بشكل صحيح.
Precise vocabulary, complex structures, correct use of concessive connectors.
C1
متقدم
Advanced
تعبير عن أفكار مجردة. أسلوب تحليلي. استخدام مجموعة واسعة من التراكيب.
Abstract ideas, analytical style, wide range of grammatical structures.
C2
إتقان كامل
Proficiency
أسلوب أدبي. دقة استثنائية. القدرة على التعبير عن فروق دقيقة جداً في المعنى.
Literary style, exceptional precision, ability to express very subtle distinctions.

هل يمكنني أن أكون في مستويين مختلفين في نفس الوقت؟
Can I be at two different levels at the same time?
نعم، وهذا شائع جداً. كثير من الطلاب يفهمون أكثر مما يكتبون أو يتكلمون. مستوى الاستيعاب غالباً يكون أعلى بمستوى أو اثنين من مستوى الإنتاج اللغوي. Yes — this is very common. Most students understand more than they can produce. Receptive level is often 1–2 levels higher than productive level.
كم من الوقت يستغرق الانتقال من مستوى إلى آخر؟
How long does it take to move from one level to the next?
يعتمد على الجهد والمنهج. بشكل عام، يتطلب كل مستوى من 150 إلى 200 ساعة دراسية مع منهج جيد وممارسة منتظمة. It depends on effort and method. Generally, each level requires 150–200 hours of quality study and regular practice.
ما الفرق بين B2 و C1؟ يبدو الفرق صغيراً.
What's the real difference between B2 and C1?
الفرق كبير جداً في الواقع. B2 يعني التواصل بطلاقة في المواقف اليومية والمهنية. C1 يعني القدرة على التعبير عن أفكار مجردة ومعقدة بسهولة ودقة، وهو المستوى المطلوب في الجامعات الأوروبية. The gap is significant. B2 means fluent communication in everyday and professional situations. C1 means expressing complex abstract ideas with ease — the level required at most European universities.
