proofreading and editing are two stages in which you become a professional English writer. Practice makes perfect. You need to read and write altogether. There is an example below that shows proofreading and editing before and after. Every student needs to learn English well.

Before proofreading and editing:

Today is 27/12/2020, and I know you are very busy for some exams and it is near the Lunar New Year so i sent you a letter to reply to you.

Thank you very much for your letter that arrived a few days ago. It was so happy to hear from you.

I think the restaurant which you told me in the letter is very interesting. I also like to find out what is special there and I usually go to a restaurant for dinner with my family twice a month. Our favorite restaurant is a traditional restaurant in Hang Bong street. It is not big but it is always crowed. There are only a few tables in the restaurant and on each table is a vase with lovely flowers. There are plants in the room corners. I usually order the traditional dishes and eat them with rice. For example, fish cooked with sauce, spring roll,...and vegetable and so on. The food is delicious so we enjoy it very much. The service is also quick and friendly . My family always have pleasant evening at our favorite restaurant. May be it will be a buffet next time, ok?

After proofreading and editing

Today is Dec.27th,2020. I know you are very busy with some exams and it is near the Lunar New Year, so I sent you a letter to reply to you.

I think the restaurant which you told me about in the letter is very interesting. I also like to find out what is special there. I usually go to a restaurant for dinner with my family twice a month. Feedback:

Adjectives come before nouns, not after

Adjectives may have two forms: -ing, -ed

Collective nouns: in American English, take ‘has’, and in British English,’ have’

Family is, a family has, (US) → two families are, two families have… (US)

The family are, the family have,.. (UK)  two families are, two families have… (UK)

Maybe vs may be

Maybe is adverb

Maybe, I will go to the restaurant.

May be (is a modal verb  may be + verb(ing) or passive (verb→ p.p )

It may be raining today.

The computer may be stolen.  (passive)
